Rapsody graced the stage Certified Vibe this past Friday and it was definitely a night I will never forget. I’ve been a Rapsody fan, musically, but now I am a STAN. Seeing Rapsody perform records off her new album ‘Please Don’t Cry’made me fall in love with the album even more. I love when an artist can walk it like they talk it, and bring their music to life with their stage presence.
My personal favorite record that she performed is “Look What You’ve Done”. During sound Check I grabbed an extra mic and rapped it with her, but I didn’t have the balls to do it during the actual show. It’s no question that Rapsody is the biggest artist I’ve we catered an event too, but she was also the most professional, and the most intentional. I really respect how she stayed and took pictures with fans, answered questions, and signed vinyls with no hesitation.
Rapsody really showed us all how human and relatable she is, which is why she is indeed one of the greatest in rap period. The night begin by a set by Rapsody’s mentee in the Femm it Forward program, the Chicago MC Brittany Carter who hit the stage in New York for the first time ever. Followed by Niko Brim & Sebastian Mikael who honestly set the tone for the night with the perfect balance or rap and melody since Rapsody’s project reflect both sonically.
September will mark the one your anniversary of Certified Vibe and though I’m not sure how I can top having Rapsody bless the mic, we do have a special announcement that will help us continue to expand our reach and community of music lovers. If you missed the show but would like to check the vibe you can catch the full show below.
P.S. Special s/o to all the heavy hitters who showed up to support the Certified Crew. Charlamagne Tha God, Rob Markman, Elliot Wilson, Swaggie Sie, Ivy Riveria. I thank you on behalf of the culture for doing what you do and showing up!
