Unveiling ‘CRASH’: Kehlani’s Evolution in Her Fifth Album

Today, Kehlani released her fifth album, “CRASH,” and it delivers as much impact as the visuals and singles that preceded it.

Before diving into the album, I want to highlight that I’ve been following Kehlani’s evolution as an artist and individual since her “Cloud 19” days. She has always been exceptional. Watching her rise to mainstream status while maintaining her authenticity is impressive. Many artists lose their connection with early fans, but not Kehlani.

The album features 13 tracks, including collaborations with Jill Scott, Omah Lay, and Young Miko. As suggested by these features and the lead single “After Hours,” this project boasts an international sound paired with Kehlani’s distinctive storytelling. It’s perfectly timed for summer, capturing the vibe of a wild night or weekend in Vegas.

The fourth track, “What I Want,” stands out because it reimagines Christina Aguilera’s Y2K hit “What a Girl Wants.” The production across the album is incredible, effortlessly blending various genres into a cohesive and enjoyable listening experience.

My personal favorite is the eleventh track, “Deep.” In this song, Kehlani reflects on her journey and the challenges she has overcome to reach her current position. It resonates with me because I’ve witnessed her growth firsthand and share similar experiences from working in the industry for nearly a decade.

If you haven’t already, make sure to listen to Kehlani’s latest album, “CRASH.” It’s a fantastic body of work, perfect for the summer.
